Remembering a loved one? A funeral is an opportunity for family and friends to express grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its worldly journey and to commend that person into God's keeping.
The Church of England funeral service can be a short, private ceremony attended by a few family members or a great occasion of thanksgiving with music, hymns and even joy. Whether in a parish church or crematorium chapel the service, which can be taken from the Book of Common Prayer or Common Worship, can have the addition of personal prayers, favourite readings, music, an address or tribute. Whatever you need, the core of the service assures us of a loving God for whom every one of us is precious.
The funeral service should reflect the personality of the one who has died and the circumstances of their death. Sometimes a sense of tragedy is uppermost, especially when a young person has died. At the end of a long and fruitful life feelings of thanksgiving can be uppermost. For a faithful Christian, death is just the beginning and he or she would want the funeral to be seen as a triumphal departure for their true home.
If you need to arrange a funeral or service of remembrance in the parishes of Beech Hill or Spencers Wood with Grazeley, please contact The Rev'd Béatrice Pearson in the first instance.

I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live,
and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. John 11:25-26
