If you and your spouse were married by civil licence you may now like to have your marriage blessed in the sight of God.
This may be shortly after your civil wedding or much later, perhaps to celebrate many happy years together. Or maybe you would like God's blessing after a time of separation or difficulty within your marriage.
How do we arrange it?
There are no legal requirements for this service as it is a purely religious service of thanksgiving. You are already legally married and there are no legal forms to fill in or sign.
You will need to contact a member of the Benefice team and decide whether you want this to be a service in its own right or whether it is to be incorporated into an existing parish service. There may be administration costs and charges for organist, choir and bell-ringing.
Please contact us and you will be put in touch with the right person depending on your requirements and where in the Benefice you live.
The Service
Not surprisingly, as you will be reaffirming your wedding vows, the service is very similar to the wedding service. Like a wedding, you can choose to involve members of your family or friends by asking them to contribute readings or music during the service.

Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.
